Neil W. McLawhorn, founder of Superior Exterminating Company, Inc., started his career in the Pest Management Industry with Orkin Exterminating Company in 1948. Neil was married to Betty J. McLawhorn. They had 3 children, William "Lefty," Jerry L. and Teresa McLawhorn. Neil successfully completed the Orkin Management Training Program and was transferred to Roanoke, VA in 1964. Neil loved the Roanoke Valley and made many friends in the community through his involvement at Oakland Baptist Church, the Williamson Road Lions Club, Roanoke Regional Homebuilders Association and the Roanoke Valley Association of REALTORS. In 1968 Neil declined a transfer to Memphis, TN and founded Superior Exterminating Company in Roanoke in 1969. Neil's dedication, integrity and commitment to his customers and the Pest Management Industry led to the founding of a continuing successful business.

 

Superior Exterminating Company is a leader in the Pest Management Industry in Virginia. The Company is under the leadership of Neil's son, Jerry L. Mclawhorn. Jerry began his career as a service manager in 1978, promoted to Vice President of Operations in 1986 and to President in 1997. Jerry is the past president of the Southwest Virginia Pest Management Association, Chairman of the Education Committee of the Virginia Pest Management Association 2001-2008 and served as President of the Virginia Pest Management Association 2008-2010. In 2012 Jerry was awarded Virginia Pest Management Association's, "Industry Stewardship Award," for his lifetime of "commitment and service to promote and support all aspects of the Pest Management Industry."
